Over the years, the Richmond Village Association (RVA) continues to contribute to Richmond’s quaint appeal by putting up flowers and flags along the main streets, and by planting trees in the Jock River Park. It has also supported artistic creativity by establishing the Richmond Heritage Mural Gallery. The Gallery was a Millennium project that began in 2000, and can be seen on the eastern wall of the Community Centre. The RVA also helps to promote economic development and community services, and has funded the Richmond Village Web site .
The Deboer Award annually recognizes a Richmond Village Volunteer of the Year. The trophy along with an individual keepsake is awarded each February to a resident of Richmond or immediate environs who has worked for the betterment of the community of Richmond Ontario in an unpaid capacity over the space of at least one full twelve month period. This person must be presented as a candidate by an organization (examples, Minor Hockey, Seniors Clubs, Lions. Legion, Kiwanians, Sport groups, Guides, Scouts and others as deemed correct by the Richmond Village Association Inc.) The presenting organization should offer written submissions supporting their candidate and signed by two officers of the organization. Candidates must be presented by 15th of January in the year of recognition. The Board of Directors of the Richmond Village Assn. Inc. shall be the Sole decision maker on who shall be recipient and their decision shall be final.
