The RVA is composed of a membership including all residents of Richmond and the surrounding rural area who are over the age of 18 and a Board of Directors who meet the first Monday of every month. Since the amalgamation of the City of Ottawa, and the inclusion of Goulbourn Ward in the new city, the role of the RVA has changed somewhat, as it has faced new challenges in a new system of local government.
Over the years, the RVA has done its part to give Richmond its quaint appeal by putting up flowers and flags along the main streets, and by planting trees in the Jock River Park. It has also supported artistic creativity by establishing the Richmond Heritage Mural Gallery. The Gallery was a Millennium project that began in 2000, and can be seen on the eastern wall of the Community Centre. The RVA also helps to promote economic development and community services, and has funded this existing Richmond Village Web site.
These endeavours and various projects undertaken by the RVA are only possible by the generous support of our many sponsors and volunteers. If you are interested in assisting with any of our projects please check out our “Sponsors” page and “Getting Involved” .
