Minutes-Board of Directors

May 6, 2002, St. Paul’s United Church, 7:30 pm.

Minutes:          Minutes of  April 4, 2002 reviewed.

                         Moved by Dick Trumble seconded by Janet Moore that the

                         previous minutes be accepted.                               Passed.

                        

Business arising from the minutes:

           

1- Constitution:

                         It was decided that we would live with the present    

                                     constitution until fall when the revised constitution can be 

                                                 discussed and approved.

                                 

                         2- By-Laws    President Ted proposed the inclusion of a clause to        

                                                 provide sympathy gifts for members of the RVA and  

                                                 community VIPs.

              

              Motion 2002-11:     Moved by Harvey Snyder seconded by Janet Moore

                                                 That no change be made to the current by-law with   

                                                 respect to sympathy gifts.                              Passed

                                                                                               

Reports:           

                         1- Finance:   A financial report was provided.

 

               Motion 2002-12:   Moved by Dick Trumble seconded by Glen Trebble

                                                That the financial report be  accepted.         Passed

           

2- Beautification; Businesses and individuals are invited to buy a

                         flag pole or contribute to buying flagpoles

                         to be installed for July 1. Judy is looking for

                         help to sell poles. A list of supporters will be

            displayed at Lenstrom’s YIG.

 

                                                 The proposed wooden tulip in memory of Kay Harten

                        did not happen due to machinery and labor problems.

                        The project will be reconsidered for next year.

 

                        Janet Stavinga is arranging for a tree from the city to be 

                        available for planting in June in the Memorial Park.

                        Red Oaks are available There will be a dedication in

                        June with a plaque similar to that in Stittsville and 

                        Munster.

                  

Transit:            Gabriel Millar reported that the transit plan is on track

                        and nearing the scheduling and routing phase. The RVA   

                        will be advised in time to submit input. Gabriel

                        also reported that the sustaining grant from the city 

                        to the RVA is in place.

 

                        Reworking of Perth Street is not in the city budget for this

                        year.

 

                        The Munster wastewater problem is still being studied.

 

                        City received a proposal to allow police to share the city’s

                        traffic cameras. A vote is pending.

 

Web Site:            A contract is in place to implement a web site. The site will

                        contain historical data, Gov’t issues, schools and 

                        organizations, recreation and sports and business listings.

                        Businesses and organizations can purchase additional

                                                space for larger ads.

                                                The site will carry 200 pages for an initial cost of 

                                                $2000.00 and include about 40 businesses

                                                There is a May 31 deadline for the submission of ads.

                                                Maintenance cost $100.00 a month depending on the

                                                 time required and updates submitted. We expect a weekly 

                                                 update of RVA information. changes and updates can be

                                                 made on-line. There is a $500.00 deposit required to

                                                 launch the project and the balance upon approval of

                                                 the completed web site.

                  

                    Motion 2002-14: Moved by Glendon Trebble seconded by Dick Trumble

 ,                                               that the proposed contract to build a web page

                                                 be accepted.                                                         Passed.

 

 

 

Energy:            President Ted reported that, to date, the planned 

                        information meeting with the Lions Club has not happened 

                        and is no longer relevant

 

                          Signs:            President Ted verified that a  correction is needed

                        to the Goulbourn Township Historical Society listing on the

                        mural donor sign.                     

 

Correspondence:

                       Letter received from David Pratt, MPP with a certificate  

                                               for the RVA as part of National Volunteer Week,  

                                               recognizing volunteer work done by the RVA

                                                

                                               Letter received from Janet Stavinga re firearms 

                                               information session.

 

                                               Letter received from Richmond Agricultural Society

                                               re cost of a booth at the fair.

 

                                               Invitation from the Anglican church to attend a dedication

                                               service at their new Quiet Garden June 23 at 3:00 pm The 

                                               Archbishop will officiate and a BBQ will happen after the

                                               ceremony. People are asked to call the church office for

                                               tickets.

                                   time line

                                   for harmonizing city and community by-laws
