Richmond Village Association Minutes
 for meeting of September 9th, 2002.
St. Paul's United Church, 7:30pm.

Present:
President: Ted Brown
Directors: Michel Dubord, Bernie McMullen, Josh Seabrooke, Harvey Snyder, Glen Trebble.

Absent:
 Janet Moore, Doug Longmire, Dick Trumble, Judy Wagdin, and a representative from Councillor Stavinga's office.

Motion 2002.x moved by Glen, 2nd by Bernie that minutes be accepted.
Passed.

Business:

Beautification:
In Judy's absence, Ted reported that there is still trouble in getting businesses to pay for the flags. While Lennstromm's YIG has paid, Judy wishes to pay them back, and suggested a motion that $2000.00 go toward this endeavor.

Web Site Update:
Glen reported that info has been collected from 65 businesses, and that info is being sought from Hist Soc. Also still trying to locate bus route map. Web site is set up (www.richmondvillage.ca) and will be uploaded soon. Glen raised concern over how an activities/ current events list will be maintained. Also need symbol. Suggested cenotaph and village logo.

Mural #3:
  Ted received cheque from City of Ottawa. Mural acct.($4,000), Economic Development ($4,000). Bernie motioned to advance Beautification Acct. by $2,000. to make up losses. Motion 2002.x by Bernie, 2nd by Harvey. Passed.

Benches:
Janet Stavinga suggested that benches be memorial sites. Benches to cost $600/ea (incl plaque), installed and maintained by City. Question, in light of the flag flap, about whether or not business will support. Decided that we should wait until flag funding is sorted out.

Skateboard:
Kelly Robertson unable to make presentation, possibly sometime in November.

Pipeline Survey:
Results released. RVA had input into questions but had no further involvement. 23% of surveys were returned, results were made available at meeting. 65% of cost of City's study is to cover liability. Experts sub-contracted for study. Still at loss as to why city is considering pipeline. Answer to Munster sewer problem expected in November or December.

Mural#4:
RFP sent by Ted to 10 people. Waiting to hear back

New Business. Richmond Fair:
Harvey coordinated booth set up for RVA and others. Suggested ballot box and questionnaire for issues of concern. Glen to add flyers to solicit businesses for website. Harvey gave further details of setup times. Ted to organize RVA people to work booth.

Beautification:
 Janet Stavinga sent flyer of "Vanier's Outdoor Gallery" and the artist involved. Yvon R. Dube is the contact. Bernie brought up some ideas to consider for future Beautification projects. Silhouettes of a fox, also ideas for flower boxes on the bridge, and a fountain in the river. Brief discussion over env. impact of project.

Flowers:
Glen suggested we thank Ray Lalonde for his time and efforts. Josh to write thanks (S.News)
