e) RVA membership on RCAMT:
Ted reported that Harvey's nomination to the MT was accepted, then MT disbanded. Have since asked for 2 names(not specified on city website), Harvey nominated but not accepted. Harvey suggested that Rva could work more effectively outside the MT. Harvey to serve as RVA liason to City and RCAMT.
New Business:

b) Beatification - Judy to look into directional signs to businesses in village(ie: post office). Also proposed the fox and Duke on a flag, Russ Lennstrom to get a price and RVA will decide.
c) Michel (speaking for Bernie) reported that Janet Stavinga notified the RVA that funds were available for certain projects, the deadline for applications being Oct 18, 2002. Bernie suggested RVA could apply for grant.
d) Environmental Projects:
Glen said that web sites pertaining to recycling could be granted money. Gabe to follow up on how same funding could apply to some of Bernie's ideas (Jock River fountain).
e) Ridership:
Harvey expressed concern that cuts could be made to bus service in Richmond but that taxes would not be lowered. Gabe to find out when ridership numbers are available.
f) Financial:
Judy reported that there is enough money for another mural in the Beautification Fund due to the $2000.00 loan from the Economic Fund.
g) Gabe notified the RVA of upcoming events:
The City has released its long range financial plan on ottawa.ca. Oct 23 - Public consultation on pesticides@ municipal hall. Oct 26 - meeting in Richmond on Official Plan for rural areas
h) Michel spoke about the fair display, suggesting that it was too small and reflected the RVA's relevance, indicated a bigger display would be in order for next year. Harvey suggested that RVA needs a signature issue for people to take notice. Talk turned to how the new website could help people become aware of issues and the RVA's role in the community.
Discussion of RVA's role:
is it possible we are too activist, trying to cover too many issues? Should we narrow our focus and concentrate on only a few? Michel suggested that if Councillor Stavinga attended meetings about issues the RVA and its members decided were important, then more people would attend.
Elections:
Proposes slate of officers elected.
Adjournment.
